ARIFA team takes an active role on Compliance

Arias, Fábrega & Fábrega represents an important number of financial institutions around the world, and we understand that compliance is absolutely critical for them. That is why we have created a team of lawyer within our practice groups, focused on compliance.

As a firm, we have been very much involved in the efforts of the Panamanian Government in setting up new standards for the country, to make sure that Panama remains a relevant and attractive jurisdiction to foreign investors and players.

ARIFA partner Gian Castillero was asked by the government to take the leading role in making sure that Panama was in compliance with all the requirements of the OECD, GAFI, and the other agencies around the world that set up rules and monitor the forming of rules regarding compliance requirements.

We are also founding members of the Ibero-American Compliance Practice Group. An initiative that in 2015 brought together 14 top law firms throughout Latin America to develop, share and promote best practices to facilitate their clients’ risk management and compliance with local and international requirements. The group has already published a guide with compliance requirements in almost every Latin America country.
