Arias, Fábrega & Fábrega successfully defended client Millennium & Copthorne International Limited in a suit filed by Global Hotel Resorts IP B.V. against Millennium's trademarks "Tara Hotles" and "Tara".

Global Hotels argued its prior rights over its trademark "Tiara" in Panama and in countries members of the General Inter-American Convention for Trademark and Commercial Protection as well as upon the Paris Convention.

ARIFA conclusively proved that Millennium & Copthorne registered its "Tara" trademark before Global registered "Tiara".  Therefore, Millennium acquired the right to register its trademarks in Panama, based upon prior rights provided by the Paris Convention.
