GECAS in the leasing of several aircrafts to COPA Airlines
Arias, Fábrega & Fábrega has acted as Panamanian counsel to General Electric Capital Aviation Services Limited (GECAS), General Electric's commercial aircraft leasing and financing unit, in various matters involving the leasing of several aircrafts to COPA Airlines.
In 2010 GECAS and COPA negotiated the expansion of the Panamanian airline’s fleet with the acquisition of five Boeing 737–800 planes, the second longest aircraft in the 737 family.
GECAS has already delivered three 737-800 from its existing order book with the Boeing Company, which Copa is currently operating. The additional two aircrafts are expected to be delivered and under operation before the end of 2012.
GECAS is a global leader in aviation financing and leasing.
Panama-based Copa Airlines have the youngest fleet in the region and one of the most modern in the world.
