Arias, Fábrega & Fábrega assisted Nordea Bank Finland PLC (London Branch) and other lenders, in connection with an amendment to the original 2008 credit agreement of a US$1.4 billion senior secured credit facility extended to Excel Maritime Carriers, Ltd. 

The obligations of Excel Maritime Carriers, Ltd. had been secured by first naval mortgages on ten (10) Panamanian registered vessels. 

The new amendment involved amending the original mortgages granted in 2008.
