US$150 million bridge loan for the construction of the south terminal of Tocumen International Airport
Arias, Fábrega & Fábrega represented Banco General, The Bank of Nova Scotia and Global Bank, as arrangers, in connection with a US$150 million factoring facility agreement with Construtora Norberto Odebrecht, providing financing for completing the construction of the new South Terminal of Tocumen International Airport.
Banco General, The Bank of Nova Scotia and Factor Global acted as lenders, with a contribution of US$50 million each, and Banco General acted as Administrative Agent.
Tocumen International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the Central American region and in January 2012, tenders were invited for the construction of a new south terminal at the airport. In September of that year, Norberto Odebrecht was awarded the construction contract for the terminal expansion. The new terminal, expected to be completed by 2017-2018, will have new areas for immigration, customs and 20 additional boarding bridges.
