Arias, Fábrega & Fábrega represented British American Tobacco Central America, S.A. (BATCA), Tabacalera Istmeña, S.A., and Peter Jackson (Overseas) Limited in opposition against the application of the trademark Dumont and design No.188424-01, based on the previous existence of the trademarks "Belmont" and "Du Maurier".

By means of the Sentence No.21, of March 7, 2014, the Panamanian Judicial Court resolved in favor of our clients, denying the registration of the trademark application for “Dumont”, No.188423-01, in Class 34, in the name of the Panamanian citizen Marukel Izenith Botello Shunnar. Said sentence was appealed and it was confirmed by the Superior Judicial Court.
