Arias, Fábrega & Fábrega represented multinational bank HSBC on the largest such Central America transaction.

This divestiture, which included one of the largest banks in Panama, brokerage house, and insurance company, as well as regulatory entities, was part of HSBC’s global strategy of spinning out assets in multiple jurisdictions.

The Panama aspect of the divestiture took more than a year to complete, due to complex regulatory standards that had to be met. ARIFA successfully coordinated the necessary approvals from multiple local regulators to complete the deal.

It is the largest acquisition and sale in Panama.
